Was really looking forward to a new/heavier set of dumbells since I already have another pair of rubber hex's from SMAI. The day they arrived, I opened them up and while one was clearly brand new, the other was clearly used. It was very dirty, the edges were rounded, and there was a deep gash in the side of it. I emailed SMAI right away with pictures and received a response a day later saying that management had determined that the protective layer had come off and that the deep gash is from where the dumbell had been removed from the mold. I was hoping they would make it right by replacing this used and/or defective product but I was offered a $30 credit and instructions on what to buy myself to repair them instead.
Hate to say it since I loved my first pair but buying these is a roll of the dice. You may get a brand new item or a used/damaged/defective item and instructions on how to repair them. Lol.
